SF Bound: guest of Honor

Giving triple threat a new meaning, Honor is model, turned model/stylist, turned model/stylist/creative director. Doing all of the above in addition to recently signing on to a full-time gig with MinkPink. Girl is equal parts style as hustle.

We recently had the privilege of tagging along on her northbound journey to SF! What started as a mellow drive to visit her (also uber stylish) boyfriend, turned into quite the adventure. From banana chi-chi’s to Herman Miller, we had a blast trailing this fashion-vagabond around her favorite San Francisco spots.

*Not to mention, killer road trip photoshoots.

| 3 must-see’s in San Francisco |

1. Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar (basement party + tiki drinks + indoor rain)

2. Mixed Nuts vintage furniture & delights

3. Wasteland on Haight St.

wait… is this really vintage?
outside of her amazing collection of vintage, Honor’s sporting both Pylo and Motel in these shots //

ThreadStory No. 1

girl boss duo does urban chic

Michele Maturo is not only gorgeous, she is smart, compassionate, and committed to her long term vision of leveraging her modeling success as a means to give back. ” I feel fortunate to be able to reach people and it is most important to me to be able to use that reach to make a difference in other people’s lives,” she says as she describes what keeps her passionate about modeling, while having her makeup done.

Michele’s style is sporty, slightly tomboyish and always chic. This lady can rock anything she puts on.  Her secret; it is all in the confidence! Michele is not your typical 6′ model, but this has never discouraged her from pursuing her career as a model and influencer. A natural beauty both on and off camera, she radiates poise and power as she does her thing.

Michele defines authenticity. She lives what she preaches and only supports products/brands she loves and uses. During the shoot, she offered us all some of the vitamins that she was raving about. “They are a part of my daily routine,” she mentions while proceeding to take two. They keep her healthy during her crazy work schedule.

Bekka Gunther is a babe who knows how to make it happen. She goes after what she wants aggressively yet with grace and professionalism. Her story is one of creative career transition in pursuit of her passion. As a natural in front of the camera, she found herself modeling in her teens. Though like Michele, she is much more than meets the eye. Bekka’s less obvious talents reveal themselves when she is behind the camera.

Bekka doesn’t take no for answer. In scheduling this shoot, nearly everything got in the way. Despite several people canceling, an insane travel schedule, bronchitis, and rain the day of the shoot, Bekka showed up and killed it. Her unique perspective through her experience as a model lends her to be a truly distinct and impressive creative director and photographer.

A ThreadStory is not about “making it,” but rather “making it happen.” Each featured woman shares a glimpse into her journey towards living her passion; lessons learned, what has inspired her, and what she feels most confident wearing.

Behind the Scenes: Style Blogging Part 2

Another day of shooting with Threads-fave Frankie and her friend and subject, Maddie, an up and coming fashion blogger herself. Frankie chose the Hollywood Forever Cemetery as the background to Maddie’s “inspirational garden shoot”.

Hollywood isn’t quite known for its greenery, so the cemetery provided the gardenesque canvas with the perfect amount of Hollywood edge.

Outfit #2

Wandering through the mausoleum and making it work. Strange vibes in there.

Outfit #3

Maddie had to head to work so we parted ways and headed to the next shoot.

As usual, the results were beautiful! See below!

Between shoots we had quick break at Lemonade to recharge then then on to the next! Meet Yuka, a fashion blogger with a passion for fashion design. Her day job involves fashion research and designing. With this, she hopes to one day launch her own line. We are sure she will!

The next location  was the Walt Disney Concert Hall, a dazzling architectural feat by architect Frank Gehry. The perfect backdrop to any photoshoot, with a modern feel. Bonus* the cool tones went amazingly with Yuka’s hair colour!

We go back to the car to make outfit changes where Yuka may have shown off her collection of food shaped cushions in her back seat (lol!).

About the post:

These talented babes let Threads tag along to capture their content creation weekend journey and we’re so excited to launch our blog  by sharing this experience!

Stay tuned for even more opportunities to meet and collaborate with artists of the Threads community. If you’re interested in developing as a blogger, photographer, model or just want to get involved with Threads, email us at threadsly@gmail.com

Our first shoot follows fashion photographer/blogger Frankie White and fashion blogger Kristina Wilde. We begin our adventure at  Los Angeles Contemporary Museum of Art (LACMA). Frankie carefully considers Kristina’s brand while deciding where to shoot; minimalist, clean, and white. She captures her against the modern cement wall, under a piece called Levitated Mass.

We love Kristina’s natural confidence as she poses. She and Frankie strategically integrate the LACMA scene to suit the vibe of the shoot.

Outfit changes are the norm so improvising is necessary. Up goes the makeshift dressing room. These gals don’t waste any time!

*Frankie Tip*
Never pay for parking if you can help it. Use the one hour free parking and hustle to beat the meter. Get your shot and go!

Always be location scouting!

We stumbled upon the next location by accident driving around LA. Win!

Bloggers really are the best at making things work! Backseat dressing room, anyone?

Art sees no boundaries. Hence, the mid traffic shot . Careful babygirl!

(Please don’t try this at home).

& thats a wrap!

Here are the final results *swoon*…
